Good To Go

Dear Good Genes staff:
I was a member of Good Genes for a very brief period of time and almost immediately found Bruce. I'm very glad that Good Genes exists, gathers biographies, screens people, etc.

I signed up for your service in August of 2001, sorted for Minnesota, found no one of interest, so I read biographies looking for left-leaning politics and sense of humor. Found 3 men that I thought might be interesting. I wrote the same e-mail to all 3 saying I had just joined the service and asking if they would they be interested in corresponding. Bruce is the only one who responded. We corresponded by e-mail for a while, then he called me, then I flew to California, stayed in a bed & breakfast, met him and his kids and we've gradually become fast friends. I just met his parents (in Tennessee) a few weeks ago and he met my family quite some time ago. It looks like we are "good to go" as they say. Now we are patiently working out my son finishing high school and the logistics of moving/employment.

I'm very thankful for Good Genes: spared me the bar scene, differentiated about intelligence so I am actually with someone who welcomes a smart woman, and I don't have to smother my political propensities. The only thing that could be better? Geography. And we are doing okay with that challenge. So I hope you expand your services and find more people in more states. Your site testimonials had "warned" about the challenges of location, so I anticipated the need for flexibility about traveling. And Califorinia weather looks mighty fine!

We Had To Share This One With You

To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing to share some of my experiences as a member of Good Genes. I joined recently and have already met 4 members. Without hesitation, I would say that each of the women I met is a quality person, serious in her effort to find an appropriate partner. Each of the meetings was pleasant – there were no negative experiences. Though there was some travel involved, I enjoyed meeting each of these women.

One of the best things about Good Genes is that members are provided with useful in-depth information. In this regard, I found the questionnaire to be well-designed for its ultimate purpose. Open-ended questions like "Your description of a good relationship" and "Describe the traits of your ideal companion" make sense given the ultimate goal of finding a long-term mate. My thumbnail strategy: 1) carefully read all profiles, 2) select ~ 10 BIOs, 3) contact ~ 4-5 members, 4) schedule meetings and follow through.

Of critical importance is access to contact numbers, which makes it possible to speak with potential matches. This is in stark contrast to the pedestrian online services, where I wasted 100s of hours subjected to endless virtual qualification, in many instances never speaking to the elusive "candidates". I believe many online treat it as a game, in the process spoiling it for the well-intended. These services, in my experience, are worth what you pay for them – nothing!

With Good Genes, the concept is very sound and the quality is definitely there. Finally, let me state that whenever I called in with questions or difficulties, the Good Genes staff provided prompt - messages were returned the same day - and congenial hands-on service. I interacted with Therese on many occasions, and found her to be very helpful & pleasant to work with, often providing tips and advice not originally sought.
